Lip augmentation can be performed under local anesthesia with the use of soft, Permalip implants.
The advantage of the permalip implant is the long lasting volume enhancement which is uniform throughout the shape of the lip. Dr. Newman has been performing lip augmentation with these advanced lip implants since 2008.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia similar to a dental procedure. A small entry point on the inside of the corner of the lip is made with a small needle which allows a thin dilator instrument to create a pathway for the permalip to be passed gently along the course of the lip.
There are four sizes which can be chosen to provide the proper aesthetic benefit. The lower lip is typically one size larger compared to the upper lip.
Patients have minimal discomfort and swelling lasts for just a few days. Dr. Newman has performed hundreds of lip augmentation procedures with implants, fillers and fat and finds the permalip to be one of the most predictable procedures to help patients reach their goals.
In addition, the permalip implant can be exchanged for a different size or removed with a simple procedure.
