Lip Surgery & Lip Lifting
Lip surgery is performed to enhance lip size, known as augmentation or to restore volume from aging and loss of volume. Skin wrinkles around the lips are often treated at the same time with lasers, dermabrasion, or chemical peels.
Since the advent of fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Belotero, many patients can try lip augmentation on a temporary basis before making the decision to have a longer lasting solution such as fat grafting, Permalip implant, or lip lifting.

Permalip implants have been performed since 2008 with great patient satisfaction. Performed under local anesthesia, a small incision is made from the inside corner of the lip so no scar is visible. Patients rarely have any bruising and swelling lasts for 3-4 days and patients can resume their normal activities within one day.
For the aging lip, a lip lift may be necessary, this is a procedure where excess skin is removed to increase the pink show of the upper lip. The muscles are tightened and the scar is hidden in a natural crease that becomes well hidden. In some cases a corner lip lift is also performed to create better shape to the lip and remove the overhanging skin roll in the corner of the upper lip.
