Age doesn’t have to look the way it used to. It’s more subtle. More gradual.

Dr. James Newman is pleased to offer Sculptra Aesthetic, the FDA approved injectible for correction of facial aging and volume loss.

James Newman, MD has extensive experience with Sculptra because he has been using the product since its first FDA approval for facial lipoatrophy in 2006.

At a recent International Facial Plastic Surgery conference, Dr. Newman reported his experience with an audience of Facial Plastic Surgeons that Sculptra Aesthetic works over time with subtle stimulation of the body’s own collagen.

Patients notice the gradual improvement in their overall facial volume as shown in the photos below. Dr. Newman noted that most patients receive and average of three treatment sessions over the course of a few months.

His patients still show results of the treatment at 2 years and beyond. In fact the results have been reproduced by physicians throughout the world and that is why Sculptra has an international reputation among people in every continent.

Sculptra Aesthetic is a new type of facial injectible made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen.

It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, and folds, that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material known as poly lactic acid.

Dr. Newman explains that this is the same material which he has used in Facial Surgery for the past few decades as an absorbable suture. There is a long history of biocompatability with the poly lactic acid.

With any synthetic material there is a chance of inflammatory reaction. Understanding how poly lactic acid works and its correct placement is vital to producing safe and reliable results.

Sculptra Aesthetic is only offered by trained core aesthetic specialist such as Facial & General Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologist and Oculoplastic Surgeons who have been adequately trained by recognized experts in the field, including Dr. Newman.

Sculptra Aesthetic is Different in the way that it works. It goes to the source of facial aging, and “Sculptra is a collagen replacer”-James Newman, MD, FACS

Dr Newman recently published an article entitled, Review of Facial Soft Tissue Augmentation, in the Investigative Journal of Dermatology. In it, he explained how Sculptra Aesthetic targets the underlying causes of the signs of facial aging—loss of skin collagen and subcutaneous fat.

By applying poly lactic acid in the the deep dermis, your own skin cells known as fibroblast react by producing new collagen and with the help of other cells, can repair and remove damaged collagen and elastin. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that have depleted over time.

Sculptra Is biocompatible and biodegradable. The result is a process of biostimulation which helped gain FDA approval for a duration of effect for 2 years.

Sculptra Aesthetic is made from a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body as it works to replace lost collagen. Poly-L-lactic acid has been used safely for decades in dissolvable stitches and as a facial injectible since 1999 in over 30 countries. Dr. Newman notes that there has been a learning curve over the past 12 years to determine the best way to apply Sculptra in the Face. With his experience since 2005, the product has been safe and effective but stresses that careful technique and judgment needs to be adhered to when using any type of injectible material.

Sculptra Aesthetic is indicated for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold (smile lines) contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles which are treated with the appropriate injection technique in healthy people. Dr. Newman also uses Sculptra to improve hollowing of the cheeks, temples and weakness of the jawline. Sculptra is injected in the office and is frequently used as and adjunct to replace volume when fat is not a good option.

It helps maintain results from Aging Face surgery because it keeps the face looking natural in 3 dimensions. Dr Newman also notes that patients who have previously had facelifts from more than 10 or 20 years ago, can restore a more natural look by adding Sculptra Aesthetic rather than just relying on secondary surgery.

To see if Sculptra Aesthetic or any of the other injectible products may help you, a consultation with one of the world’s authorities of Facial Aging and Plastic Surgery is the best place to begin. Consultation fees are applied to your treatments at the time of service. Most patients should budget between $1500-$3000 for their Sculptra Aesthetic treatments.
